In just two weeks’ time, private sector employers with over 100 employees will have their gender pay gap data published via the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA). Openly publishing this data is a critical part of legislative action aimed at closing the gender pay gap. In our latest blog we share what the key changes will mean for organisations.
This first release of private sector gender pay gap data will be made public on 27 February and will cover the period from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023. From 1 April 2024, employers will also be required to report additional workforce data to provide more detailed insights that will help WGEA better understand the factors influencing equality in Australian workplaces.
This is a part of new reforms to the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 which aim to accelerate workplace gender equality in Australia, in this case by encouraging employers to deploy and drive workplace policies, practices and environments to assist in closing the gender pay gap.
