Have you registered for Inclusion at Work Week 2025? |
Inclusion at Work Week (17-21 November) is less than three weeks away and we are delighted to share this inspiring message from our Patron, Her Excellency, the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, in support of this year’s event. |
It’s free to take part and you can register as an individual or as an organisation – with participation open to DCA Members and non-members alike. There are many ways you, your workplace, and team can contribute and be involved in this year’s activities: |
Register for an education session usually reserved for group bookings only. There are three insightful programs on offer for DCA Members: D&I Fundamentals, Preventing Gendered Violence at Work, and Inclusive Leadership. |
| |
| Communicate internally on why D&I matters to you and your business. |
| | Everyone can join the dialogue using the hashtag #InclusionAtWorkWeek on social media and sharing what inclusion means to you – or by highlighting your organisation’s inclusion journey, proudest moments and goals for the future. |

How to create safe, respectful, and gender-equal workplaces |
How can we build environments where everyone (regardless of gender, experience and identity) feels valued, heard and empowered? A blog by Our Watch Workplace Lead, Alisha Taylor-Jones (she/they), examines why workplaces need to prevent gender-based violence, and provides ideas on how to prevent workplace gender-based violence from occurring.
Creating safe, respectful, and gender-equal workplaces isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. It means being brave enough to challenge outdated norms, curious enough to keep learning, and compassionate enough to centre the voices of those most impacted. |
| |
Register for our Open Program, in partnership with Our Watch, on Preventing Gendered Violence at Work as part of Inclusion at Work Week. This 90-minute session is open to all and takes place from 12.30 – 2pm AEDT on Wednesday 19 November. Practitioners from Our Watch and DCA will focus on how to foster safe, respectful, and equal workplaces, along with access to tools and templates to help you. |

How can we can create menopause-friendly workplaces? |
For many women, perimenopause and menopause arrive just when they are at the height of their careers — leading teams, shaping strategy, and bringing years of expertise. Yet despite this, many leave the workforce earlier than planned.
For World Menopause Day (18 October), Claire Butselaar (she/her), Health Promotion Coordinator at Women’s Health East, contributed a blog on how we can create menopause-friendly workplaces that benefit everyone, boost productivity, reduce absenteeism, and strengthen retention. |

Retail Sector Survey on the positive duty in the Sex Discrimination Act |
The Australian Human Rights Commission (Commission) is inviting senior Human Resources (HR) and Work Health Safety (WHS) leaders from large retailers to take part in a Retail Sector Survey focused on the positive duty in the Sex Discrimination Act. The retail sector is currently an area of regulatory focus for the Commission. This is a valuable opportunity to share insights on how your business is working to prevent and respond to workplace sexual harassment, sexist conduct and victimisation covered by the positive duty. HR or WHS professionals, from large retailers (200+ workers), who are familiar with their whole-of-business policies and processes for preventing and responding to workplace sexual harassment, sexist conduct and related victimisation are encouraged to participate.
