How to address misinformation and maximise D&I impact
What is a “truth sandwich"? Why are people vulnerable to misinformation? Are myth-busting approaches flawed? When is debunking effective?
These questions were explored at a recent DCA event hosted by CEO Catherine Hunter (she/her), where a panel of experts challenged traditional approaches to myth-busting. They explored why these methods may fall short, and what diversity and inclusion (D&I) practitioners can do instead to drive positive impact. |

“People have a default to believe information that they encounter. This helps support trust and contributes to social cohesion, but it can also make us vulnerable to false narratives.” |
- Dr. Eryn Newman (she/her), Associate Professor in Psychology at ANU |

Read our blog for practical strategies D&I practitioners can use — like focusing on what you want people to remember, leading the conversation, addressing shared values, and using credible research to get ahead of misinformation. |
