Advancing Women’s Leadership: A conversation at Government House

Last week, DCA was honoured to be welcomed by our Patron, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, who hosted an inspiring conversation on accelerating women’s leadership.
|

|
DCA Board Chair Sunita Gloster AM, led the conversation with acclaimed author and journalist Catherine Fox AM, in discussion about her latest book Breaking the Boss Bias: How to Get More Women into Leadership. They were also joined by Julie Reilly OAM, CEO of Australians Investing in Women.
|
|
|
|
The event brought together leaders and experts in women’s leadership and gender equality to explore the current state of women’s leadership, the progress made, and the key challenges that remain in accelerating change, all themes in Ms Fox's new book. This conversation reflects the gender equity work we champion at DCA, building inclusive leadership and addressing systemic barriers.

Learn how the City of Sydney has benefited from DCA’s Inclusive Employer Index

The City of Sydney participated in DCA’s 2023-2024 Inclusive Employer Index with their Index results surpassing the national benchmark. The Index is a powerful diagnostic tool to assess your organisation’s D&I progress, benchmark strengths, pinpoint areas for growth, and provide actionable insights to enhance your approach to D&I.
Yesterday, DCA’s CEO Catherine Hunter (she/her) joined Chris Youness (he/him), People and Culture Leader, Service Transformation Specialist and Lindsey Bolivar (she/her), Manager of Employee and Organisational Success at City of Sydney to discuss their experience with the Inclusive Employer Index and why D&I efforts need to be embedded into an organisation’s core systems to achieve lasting change.

Commonwealth public sector pay gaps now available
|
|
|
|
On Wednesday 21 May 2025, the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) published the Commonwealth public sector pay gaps for 120 employers and 2 corporate groups for the first time.
The data, from 2023, shows that Commonwealth public Sector employers generally have lower gender pay gaps than their counterparts in the private sector and that the Commonwealth public sector has achieved gender-balance of the workforce, across all manager levels, in every remuneration quartile and on governing bodies.

The Awards recognise the achievements and leadership of young Asian-Australians across several different categories. Registration for 2025 AWEI Practice Point Sessions now open

Pride in Diversity’s 2025 Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) Practice Point sessions are currently running each week until October. Each session delves into key insights from the most recent Practice Point report and features discussions with the Pride Inclusion Programs data analysts to create a unique opportunity to explore the data in the real world. Registering for the sessions is free; however, recordings are only available to members of Pride in Diversity.
