First Nations leadership for more sustainable organisations
At DCA’s latest First Nations Insights event we spoke with prominent First Nations leaders about the advantages of community-focused leadership principles that have been passed down through generations for thousands of years.
Jordin Payne, Professor Deen Sanders OAM, and Abbey Wright discussed the importance of relationships, long-term thinking, and the seven generations principle—a First Nations approach to leadership that considers the impact of decisions on future generations. We encourage you to read the key highlights from the event in this week’s blog.
These insights challenge Western leadership frameworks and offer alternatives that centre on sustainable collective wellbeing rather than individual success. As Abbey Wright said, “True leadership and governance must reflect the lived experiences, the values and the aspirations of the communities it serves.”
First Nations leadership offers powerful insights that can transform modern workplaces. Taking inspiration from and platforming First Nations leaders can enrich entire organisations by fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and long-term thinking.

“You don’t look like you have a disability” is a statement many people with non-apparent disability have encountered. But the fact is, there are hundreds of types of disabilities that may not present obvious visual cues. For many people with a non-apparent disability, securing access to workplace adjustments or even a basic understanding of their needs can be challenging.

In this blog, Justin Bruce, Director at Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Australia & New Zealand, speaks to the range of challenges faced by people with non-apparent disability, and what organisations can do to improve awareness, accessibility and inclusion. Read the blog now.

Be part of the movement to end burnout
Burnout is not an inevitable outcome of work. We can, and we must create workplaces that are sustainable for the organisation and the people in it. We need data to help leaders better understand how workplace stress is affecting their people, and we need insights to help change organisational policies. This is where you can help create that change!
Infinite Potential’s State of Workplace Burnout study seeks to generate insights that will help organisations create healthy, productive, and sustainable work environments. You can help end burnout by sharing your experience in this completely anonymous survey and encouraging your network to do the same.
The survey closes 15 November – complete it now!
